Minister of Information Paul Morcos will resume a series of meetings early next week as part of efforts to protect journalists and media correspondents from Israeli attacks.

On Monday, Morcos is scheduled to meet with members of the Beirut Bar Association, led by Imad Mortinos, to strengthen the legal case. He will also hold talks with Lebanese Press Syndicate head Aouni Kaaki at 2:00 p.m., followed by a meeting at 3:00 pm with French Ambassador Hervé Magro, accompanied by political adviser Romain Calvari and media adviser Marwan Tibi, to bolster diplomatic support.

On Tuesday, Morcos will meet a delegation from UNESCO’s regional office led by Paolo Fantoni at 1:00 pm, followed by at meeting at 2:00 pm with Levon Amirjanyan of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie.

These meetings follow recent consultations with EU Ambassador Sandra de Waele, UNIFIL spokesperson Candice Ardell, UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, and others. Minister Morcos entrusted all with protest memoranda addressed to the Human Rights Council in Geneva through Lebanon's Permanent Representative to the Council, Ambassador Caroline Ziadeh; to UNESCO in Paris through Lebanon's Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, Ambassador Hind Darwish; and to the UN Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, Morris Tidball-Binz. These protest memoranda, submitted by the Information Minister in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, were also deposited with the International Humanitarian Law Commission.

In this connection, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, will soon visit Lebanon at the invitation of the Lebanese government to assess the situation on the ground and conduct an investigation into the Israeli attacks.
