President of the Republic Joseph Aoun paid tribute to the late national leader, Kamal Jumblatt, on the 49th anniversary of his assassination, praising his political legacy and commitment to reform.
In a statement, Aoun said that despite the difficult circumstances facing Lebanon, the country recalls the path of a figure who left a profound mark on its political and intellectual life through his reformist vision and deep belief in the values of freedom, justice and dialogue among the nation’s communities.
Aoun added that Jumblatt left behind a rich national and intellectual legacy and paid with his life for his convictions in defending a sovereign and free Lebanon and a state based on justice and institutions.
The President concluded that the anniversary remains an occasion to reaffirm the principles for which Jumblatt struggled, foremost among them the unity of the Lebanese people, the consolidation of coexistence and the pursuit of a strong and just state that protects all its citizens.
