Information Minister Paul Morcos said Prime Minister Nawaf Salam reaffirmed diplomatic efforts to stop the war and thanked countries that have sent humanitarian aid to Lebanon.
Morcos spoke after the Cabinet session at the Grand Serail where he read the official decisions adopted by the government.
The Information Minister said Salam asked the foreign minister to summon those concerned at the Iranian embassy following remarks attributed to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps about an operation carried out in cooperation with Hezbollah.
Morcos added that the Cabinet also discussed the issue of incitement, quoting Salam as saying: We are against repression but also against any form of sedition.
Moreover, Morcos said ministers also reviewed measures to verify the identities of hotel residents and the situation of displacement, noting that 592 shelter centers have been opened.
Morcos added that there is no need for displaced people to remain in the streets, with 36 centers currently available to host them, additional capacity at Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium, and around 100 more centers ready to open if needed.
