Security sources told MTV that over the past few hours, the Lebanese Army observed unusual activity along the eastern mountain range, specifically within Syrian territory. This activity involved intense Israeli helicopter flights visible from positions held by the Syrian Army in the area.
According to the sources, this aerial movement coincided with close monitoring by the Lebanese Army of field developments along the eastern border, amid escalating Israeli military activity across multiple regional fronts.
Regarding the maps reportedly provided by the Lebanese Army to the Pentagon, sources close to the military leadership clarified that Army Commander General Rodolph Hyakal did not submit actual maps but rather operational information and statistics. This information, based on precise field data, indicates that the Army has successfully established control over most of the southern Litani area within its deployment zone.
However, the sources noted that this control does not mean there are no breaches. Hidden positions, believed to belong to Hezbollah, still exist in the area. This explains why only two rocket launches were recorded from the southern Litani region in recent weeks, outside the Army’s direct control.
In contrast, most rocket launches recorded during the recent period originated from the northern Litani region, beyond the direct deployment of the Lebanese Army in the south.
The sources also added that one factor that facilitated the Israeli Army’s entry into some southern areas was what they described as a “trap or field ambush” set up in advance, which forced certain Lebanese Army units to conduct tactical withdrawals from specific positions before reorganizing their deployment later.
This comes at a time when indicators point to increasing complexity in the security and military situation in the south, amid careful international monitoring of any developments that could shift the balance along the border.
