Lebanon’s Cabinet approved new diplomatic appointments, filling several key ambassadorial posts abroad and naming new senior officials within the Foreign Ministry's central administration.
The appointments include new envoys to a range of influential capitals and multilateral organizations, as well as pivotal administrative changes at home.
Among the notable postings, Tarek Mneimneh was appointed ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, while Rabih El Chaer was named envoy to Paris. Nada Hamadeh Mouawad will represent Lebanon in Washington, and Hind Darwish will assume the post at UNESCO.
Fadi Assaf was tapped to serve as Lebanon’s ambassador to the Vatican, while Mounir Aanouti will head to Ankara as envoy to Turkey. Jean Mourad was appointed to Cyprus, and Caroline Ziadeh will represent Lebanon in Geneva.
Cynthia Chidiac was named ambassador to Vienna, and Ghadi Khoury will take up the post in Kuwait. Wael Hashem was appointed to South Korea, Hani Chamatli to Spain, Bachir Azzam to Moscow, and Bachir Tawk to Ottawa.
In the Foreign Ministry’s central administration, Abdel Sattar Issa was appointed Secretary General of the Ministry. Ibrahim Assaf was named Director of Political Affairs, while Fadi Ziadeh was appointed Director of Financial Affairs.
