Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny welcomed the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Lebanon, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who handed him an official letter from the Qatari Minister of Transport, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani.
The letter included a valuable grant in support of the Lebanese Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
The initiative builds on discussions held during Rasamny’s visit to Doha last April, where he participated in the ICAO Air Transport Facilitation Conference and held bilateral talks with the Qatari Minister of Transport on enhancing cooperation in aviation and transport.
The Qatari grant includes:
• A range of advanced communication and air navigation equipment to support operations at Rafic Hariri International Airport and enhance aviation safety and security.
• A large number of public transport buses for the Traffic Management Authority, aimed at improving Lebanon’s public transport infrastructure and easing pressure on both the aviation and land transport sectors.
Minister Rasamny expressed his sincere appreciation to Qatar, “its leadership and people, for this generous support,” noting that “this grant will contribute to improving service quality and strengthening the capacities of the public transport and aviation sectors as part of the ministry’s broader strategy to upgrade facilities and enhance operational efficiency.”
The Qatari ambassador reiterated Qatar’s commitment to standing by Lebanon, in line with the directives of Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and emphasized the strong fraternal ties between the two countries. The Qatari Embassy is supervising the delivery and coordination of the grant, in close cooperation with the ministry’s team, to ensure swift implementation and deployment.
