Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri met at the Second Presidency in Ain el-Tineh with World Bank Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa, Ousmane Dione, and Regional Director Jean-Christophe Carret, in the presence of Media Advisor Ali Hamdan.
Discussions focused on loan agreements and development projects under negotiation between Lebanon and the World Bank. Berri affirmed Parliament’s readiness to pass the required legislation once submitted by the government, particularly in sectors such as energy, water, agriculture, and reconstruction.
Berri also received former Minister Albert Mansour and Monsignor Camille Mubarak, with talks touching on current political and security developments.
Separately, Berri called for a joint parliamentary session on Thursday, June 19, bringing together committees on Finance and Budget, Administration and Justice, Health, Defense, IT, and Media to examine draft laws related to media retirees, pharmaceutical practice, municipal empowerment, and the creation of a national digital transformation agency.
