The family residence of Lebanon’s new Central Bank Governor Karim Souaid in the town of Qartaba, was filled with well-wishers following his appointment.
They were received by his brother, former MP Fares Souaid, who thanked President of the Republic Joseph Aoun for his steadfast position and his insistence on appointing Souaid to this post, and the Council of Ministers for its decision.
The former MP also wished the newly appointed Central Bank chief success in his new mission.
Souaid also received congratulatory phone calls from current and former ministers and from mayoral, military, party, syndical and social figures.
As soon as the appointment was announced, fireworks lit up the town's sky.
