Bassil warns against sectarian strife in Syria, calls for action to stop bloodshed
Head of the Free Patriotic Movement, MP Gebran Bassil, questioned the motives behind fueling sectarian strife in Syria, writing on X:
What is the goal of igniting sedition in Syria, and what remains of religion if it becomes a pretext for killing?
Bassil described Syria as the heart of the Arab Levant’s civilization, stressing that preserving its social fabric is the responsibility of the state.
Bassil condemned the ongoing violence as a horrific crime that no religion permits, urging all nations to take responsibility in stopping the bloodshed.
“The loss of Syria’s diversity is a loss for Lebanon’s pluralism, Bassil warned.
