  • Fri November 6 2026 4:55 pm

President of the Republic Joseph Aoun reaffirmed Lebanon’s potential as an attractive investment destination, citing its skilled workforce, scientific and professional expertise, and strategic geographical location.

Lebanon, with its human capital, scientific and professional expertise, and distinctive geographical position, offers promising investment opportunities. We are working to create the conditions necessary to restore confidence in the Lebanese economy, strengthen the investment climate and provide guarantees that encourage investors to contribute to rebuilding the economy and developing productive sectors, Aoun said.

His remarks came during a meeting at Baabda Palace with Uniterminals Chairman Georges Fayyad and members of the company’s board representing its Kuwaiti partners.

Aoun emphasized Lebanon’s commitment to expanding cooperation between Lebanese and Kuwaiti companies beyond traditional commercial ties toward sustainable joint investment ventures based on shared expertise and complementary capabilities.

Kuwait has always stood by Lebanon, and we want this historic relationship to translate into sustainable economic and investment partnerships that benefit both sides, he said.

Fayyad and the delegation briefed the President on Uniterminals’ activities in the petroleum sector and oil storage facilities, as well as plans to expand investments in Lebanon and generate additional employment opportunities.

Commemorative Stamps Marking Pope Leo XIV’s Visit

Separately, President Aoun received commemorative postage stamps marking Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Lebanon last year.

The stamps were presented by Telecommunications Minister Charles Hajj in the presence of Director General of Posts Dr. Mohammad Zouheir Youssef, LibanPost Chairman and General Manager André Al-Rami, and Vice Chairman Chadi Moghammes.

The commemorative collection comprises four different stamps depicting highlights of the papal visit. The planned total issuance stands at 50,000 stamps, with 750 released in the initial edition.

MP Hamadeh Reaffirms Support for Presidential Initiatives

President Aoun also received MP Marwan Hamadeh for discussions on domestic, regional and international developments.

Following the meeting, Hamadeh said he had presented the President with his book, Lebanon of Honey and Blood, expressing hope that Lebanon could overcome its troubled past and regain prosperity.

Hamadeh reaffirmed his support for Aoun’s initiatives aimed at restoring peace, liberating occupied Lebanese territory and facilitating the return of displaced residents to southern Lebanon.

He also backed the President’s efforts to uphold the rule of law, strengthen security and ensure justice through an independent and impartial judiciary.

Hamadeh commended the government’s efforts to manage the country’s affairs amid exceptionally difficult circumstances, reiterating his support for a settlement that would pave the way for peace, the return of displaced residents and the liberation of occupied territory.
