Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, on Monday received Moussa al-Hurr Shmaisani, head of the Nabatieh Traders Association, along with a delegation from the association’s administrative board, at the Second Presidency headquarters in Ain al-Tineh.

The meeting addressed the general situation, particularly the state of the productive, economic, and commercial sectors in the city of Nabatieh and the villages of its district, as well as the damage they have sustained as a result of the ongoing Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon.

The delegation briefed Speaker Berri on the current situation of traders and business owners whose establishments and shops were destroyed and the damage they sustained as a result of the Israeli aggression in 2024, which caused widespread destruction across markets and commercial establishments, and the ongoing attacks throughout 2026.

The delegation presented Speaker Berri with a comprehensive file outlining the association’s demands and efforts to support the resilience and recovery of the commercial and economic sectors in the city of Nabatieh and the governorate. The file also addressed ways to confront the catastrophic consequences of repeated Israeli attacks on commercial establishments and markets in the city and its surrounding villages.

The delegation thanked Speaker Berri for his continued support and commitment to ensuring everything necessary to bolster the resilience of the Lebanese people in general, and the people of the south in particular, as well as for his efforts to alleviate their suffering amid the current circumstances.

Speaker Berri also received Public Health Minister Dr. Rakan Nassereddine at Ain El-Tineh.
