Ongoing May Rainfall, Authorities Warn About Certain Beaches

  • Fri May 29 2026 12:31 pm

The forecast issued by the Department of Forecasting at the Meteorological Service of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation indicates that tomorrow’s weather will be generally partly cloudy, with a rise in temperatures, especially over the mountains and inland areas, along with continued fog formation over high elevations.

A mild spring weather pattern is prevailing over Lebanon, with some local fluctuations due to relatively cold air masses affecting the eastern Mediterranean basin. These conditions will gradually recede starting Sunday.

Average May temperatures in Beirut range between 18°C and 27°C, in Tripoli between 15°C and 25°C, and in Zahle between 13°C and 27°C.

Rising sea waves and the formation of strong currents are expected on Friday, especially along the northern coasts.

Expected weather in Lebanon:

Friday: Morning cloudy with a drop in temperatures over the mountains and inland, falling below seasonal averages. Active winds will sometimes reach up to 55 km/h, raising sea waves to around 2 meters in the north. Light scattered rain is expected, especially in northern areas in the morning. Weather gradually improves in the afternoon, becoming partly cloudy by evening, with dense fog forming over the highlands leading to poor visibility.

Saturday: Generally partly cloudy with a rise in temperatures, especially in the mountains and inland, with continued fog over high elevations.

Sunday: Partly cloudy in the morning with no significant temperature change in the mountains, and a slight rise along the coast and inland. The weather becomes cloudy in the afternoon, with conditions favorable for rain in mountainous areas, possibly accompanied by thunder and lightning. Local fog persists with reduced visibility.

Monday: Generally partly cloudy with a slight drop in temperatures over the mountains, a rise inland, and no change along the coast, with continued local fog and poor visibility on high ground.

Temperatures are expected to range between 21°C and 28°C along the coast, 20°C to 27°C in the mountains, and 14°C to 30°C in inland areas.

Visibility: Good on the coast, sometimes poor in mid and high elevations due to fog.
Humidity: 60%–85% on the coast.
Sea conditions: Moderate waves.
Sea surface temperature: 22°C.
Sunrise: 05:29 am
Sunset: 07:42 pm
