President Aoun from Rome: Lebanon Will Remain A Model of Unity in Diversity
President of the Republic Joseph Aoun and First Lady Nehmat Aoun arrived in Rome to attend the official funeral of Pope Francis tomorrow, Saturday.
President Aoun said: My presence here today as President of the Lebanese Republic is not only to offer condolences for the death of Pope Francis, but also to reaffirm Lebanon’s spiritual and missionary role in this world. We are here to say and show that despite all its wounds, Lebanon will remain a model of unity in diversity, and a beacon of the human values that His Holiness the Pope carried and defended, clinging to the values that do not fade, for a more just and merciful world.
The President and the First Lady paid their final respects to the body of Pope Francis, lying in state at St. Peter’s Basilica.
