Prime Minister-designate Nawaf Salam welcomed Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi accompanied by Jordanian Ambassador to Lebanon Walid al-Hadid.
In the wake of the meeting, Minister Safadi stated, I was pleased to meet with the Prime Minister-designate and convey our best wishes for the swift formation of the new Lebanese government. His Majesty the King is very keen on seeing Lebanon move forward towards rebuilding its institutions and restoring its security and stability. We trust that Prime Minister-designate, God willing, will lead Lebanon toward government formation as quickly as possible so that Lebanese institutions can begin their work, especially after the election of President of the Republic.
Safadi went on to say that he conveyed a message to Salam from His Majesty the King of Jordan, affirming that the Kingdom stands with Lebanon in this sensitive phase.
“We see this as a significant moment in Lebanon with a new beginning and a new mandate. There is a noticeable sense of optimism, and both regional and international support is strong for Lebanon during this phase, particularly for the restoration of the effectiveness of its institutions and overcoming the many challenges Lebanon has faced in recent years,” Safadi stated.
Moreover, the Jordanian Foreign Minister described his meeting with Salam as “positive”.
“We are confident that Prime Minister-designate will lead Lebanon through this new phase. We hope the ceasefire will hold, and the challenges of reconstruction remain significant, but we believe Lebanon, with this positive momentum, will overcome these challenges and restore its prominent role in the region and the world,” Safadi said.
Additionally, Prime Minister-designate Salam received a congratulatory call from Sheikh Akl of the Druze sect, Sami Abi al-Muna, who congratulated him on his appointment to form the government.
