Caretaker Energy Minister Walid Fayad visited Beirut’s Southern Suburbs (Dahiyeh) to assess damage to water and electricity infrastructure caused by the Israeli attacks and oversee ongoing rapid repair efforts, particularly at the electricity transformer station on Sayyed Hadi Nasrallah Street.
Fayad was accompanied by EDL Director-General Kamal Hayek Beirut Water Authority head, Jean Gebran, and local officials, including municipal leaders from Ghobeiry, Borj Al-Barajneh, and Haret Hreik.
In his remarks, Fayad emphasized the need for national unity and institutional strength to rebuild Lebanon, stressing that true resilience lies in a united state under effective leadership. He called for urgent reforms to ensure sustainable electricity and water services, citing cooperation with UNICEF, which pledged $1 million for water infrastructure repairs.
Fayyad reaffirmed his commitment to fostering stability, economic growth, and dignity for all Lebanese, underlining the symbolic resilience of Beirut's southern suburbs as a cornerstone of Lebanon's unity and strength.
