Army arrests suspect in fatal shooting of Deir Mimas mayor

The Lebanese Army announced that on June 1, 2026, a resident identified by the initials F.B. opened fire on Deir Mimas Mayor Souheil Abou Jamra in the Marjayoun district, killing him and wounding the town’s mukhtar.

Army units immediately intervened, carried out a raid and arrested the suspected gunman.

An investigation has been launched under the supervision of the competent judicial authorities.
