Calm settled over the city of Tripoli, with a heavy deployment of military personnel, after tensions erupted overnight in the areas of El-Qobbeh, Jabal Mohsen, and Bab al-Tabbaneh, following an incident where a young man from Jabal Mohsen stabbed a minor.
Subsequently, rumors spread claiming the minor was of Syrian nationality, but it was later confirmed that he was from Al-Nour. Gunshots were heard in El-Qobbeh and Jabal Mohsen areas, prompting the military units to deploy heavily in the tense regions, especially in the Baqar and Jabal neighborhoods and the Syria Street, which separates Bab al-Tabbaneh from Jabal Mohsen. The military's presence helped restore calm.
The Alawite Islamic Council issued the following statement: National peace and security are red lines. In response to the security forces' request to hand over the young man Ahmed Al-Bitar, we initiated contact with him, and he positively responded to this request. We have full confidence in the security forces to perform their duty with transparency to uncover the circumstances of the incident and reveal the truth. Tripoli has always been and will remain a model for national unity, a stronghold against sectarian strife. May God protect Lebanon, protect the army, and may Tripoli remain safe and stable.
