Former President Michel Sleiman received Egypt’s newly appointed Ambassador to Lebanon, Tamim Khallaf, at his residence in Yarze, where discussions focused on political and security developments in Lebanon and the region, as well as broader Arab and international developments and their implications for regional stability.

According to a statement, the meeting reaffirmed the longstanding historical and fraternal relations between Lebanon and Egypt, while exploring ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, coordination and consultations across various sectors.

Sleiman praised Egypt’s leading role in addressing regional crises and its continued diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue and political solutions over confrontation and escalation.

He also commended Cairo’s support for Saudi Arabia and the measures taken to demonstrate solidarity with the Kingdom, describing the Egyptian position as a reflection of Arab unity and a commitment to safeguarding collective Arab security amid mounting regional challenges.

Sleiman stressed that current circumstances required stronger Arab solidarity and coordinated efforts to protect national sovereignty and independent decision-making.

He expressed hope that Egypt would continue playing an active role in supporting Lebanon’s constitutional institutions, strengthening its stability and helping restore its position within the Arab world.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Sleiman wished Ambassador Khallaf success in his new diplomatic mission, expressing hope for further progress in Lebanese-Egyptian relations and cooperation.
