President Aoun to Waltz: End Israeli Occupation, Fully Implement Agreement
President Joseph Aoun, during his meeting with US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, stressed the necessity of ending the Israeli occupation in the remaining points and fully implementing the November 27, 2024, agreement to ensure stability in the south and enforce Resolution 1701. He also emphasized the urgency of securing the release of Lebanese detainees held in Israel.
Waltz, for his part, praised the role of the Lebanese Army in deploying to the positions vacated by the Israelis, affirming the United States’ commitment to Lebanon in working to solidify the ceasefire and resolve outstanding issues diplomatically. He underscored the importance of the Lebanese-American partnership and the need to strengthen it across all fields.
Waltz also assured President Aoun that the US administration is closely monitoring developments in the south following the partial Israeli withdrawal and the continued occupation of several border points.
