The Lebanese Army Guidance Directorate issued the following statement: “On 5/1/2024, following gunfire and armed demonstrations during a funeral in the town of Bebnin - Akkar on 4/28/2024, and after a careful monitoring and control process, army units supported by patrols from the Intelligence Directorate carried out raid operations to the homes of those involved, arrested 10 people, and seized military weapons and ammunition.”
The army stressed that armed demonstrations and shooting are clearly a breach in the security and a threat to the lives of innocent people.
It was also confirmed that the Army is in the process of tracking down the shooters, arresting them, and referring them to the competent judiciary.
Finally, the Army called on those concerned to make the required efforts and cooperate with the security services to contribute to preventing practices that undermine security, out of patriotic sentiment, especially in the delicate stage that Lebanon is going through.
