The Beirut Fire Department reported that its personnel extinguished a fire at a restaurant in the Bechara El Khoury area.
It clarified that a gas leak led to an explosion in the restaurant, resulting in casualties including deaths and injuries. Preliminary information reported two injured individuals and 8 victims who died from suffocation inside the restaurant.
