The Quintet Meets in Bnachii Without Bukhari, Discusses Frangieh's Takeaway
Egyptian Ambassador Alaa Moussa affirmed after the Quintet Committee meeting with the leader of the Marada Movement, Sleiman Frangieh, in Bnachii, that ideas and opinions were exchanged. He stated: We heard Frangieh's opinion on the presidential file amidst the ongoing stalemate, and we remain determined to find a solution to the presidential file, and we hope to achieve a breakthrough.
The Egyptian Ambassador clarified that we did not meet with Frangieh for his role as a presidential candidate but rather for his political status, and we refrained from discussing specific candidates and focused on the concept of the presidency as long as it is elected from within the Lebanese political forces. He revealed that Frangieh discussed his commitment to the state its unity, as well as his openness and readiness to engage with any proposals that serve Lebanon's unity.
He also justified the absence of the Saudi ambassador from the meeting due to health reasons, stating: The ambassador experienced health issues, and will not be able to participate in the rest of our meetings.
